A business acquisition is the process of obtaining a company and can be either welcoming or unwelcoming. Welcome acquisitions occur when the target company expresses an agreement to be acquired, whereas unwelcome acquisitions do not have the same agreement from the target company.  The acquiring business would need to actively purchase large stakes of the target company in order to have a majority stake.
