The Uniform Code Coucil (UCC) is a nonprofit administrative and education organization that works with American and Canadian industry to develop and administer product identification, bar codes, and EDI-Electronic Data Interchange standards. The Uniform Code Council in 2005 merged with EAN International into GS1, Global Standards One. GS1, thereby, effectively became the single worldwide origination point for UPC and EAN numbers.
