Landed Cost refers to the cost of a product including any relevant logistics costs, such as transportations, warehousing, handling, etc., and can refer to the total cost of a good to a buyer, including the cost of transportation. It may also refer to the total cost of a product delivered at a given location, where it is the production cost plus the transportation cost to the customer’s location. Also, it may mean the total standard or actual cost for an imported purchased item, composed of the vendor cost, transportation charges, duties, taxes, broker fees and any other or charges. The total landed cost of an import item must be considered in evaluating foreign vs. domestic purchase decisions.
