ASP sometimes referred to as "apps-on-tap," offers individuals or enterprises the ability to rent applications in lieu of purchasing software.  Generally this is a less expensive solution to establishing e-commerce, e-business, and start-up businesses. Customers would implement the programs they need, for either a fixed monthly fee or usage-based charges. In addition, larger corporations are providing their own ASP in-house, moving applications from personal computers to their application servers.
