Though no universally accepted standard exists, a Green Supplier is generally considered to be a supplier of products that are presumed to be environmentally safe and responsible in their use and production. Thus a green supplier incorporates a broad range of activities, including product modification, changes to the production process, aging changes, as well as modifying advertising. Yet defining a green supplier is not a simple task where several meanings intersect and contradict each other; an example of this will be the existence of varying social, environmental, and retail definitions attached to this term. Other similar terms used are Environmentally Focused Supplier and Ecologically Focused Supplier, suggesting that they have practices in place and certain certifications that hold their company accountable to practicing green business strategies.
