Federal Meat Inspection Act
No Comments Yet

The Federal Meat Inspection Act is a United States Congressional act to prevent the sale of misbranded or contaminated meat from being sold to consumers and to ensure that meat is processed and handled under sanitary conditions. This law applies to imported meat products as well, which must be inspected under equivalent foreign inspection standards.  The original 1906 Act authorized the Secretary of Agriculture to inspect and condemn for sale any meat product found unfit for human consumption.
