PBDE
No Comments Yet

PBDEs, or polybrominated diphenyl ethers, are an industrial toxic chemicals used as a flame retardant most commonly found in plastics, furnishings, and building materials, but are found in many household goods. Because of their toxicity and persistence, the industrial production and even recycling of some PBDEs is restricted under the Stockholm Convention, a treaty to control and phase out major persistent organic pollutants. In addition, there have been measures passed by state legislatures that prohibit the manufacture, sale, or distribution of most items containing PBDEs.
